CORE PURPOSEWe require an inspiring, highly driven Science Teacher to deliver outstanding biology, chemistry, and physics instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Operating within a vibrant, multi-cultural community school, the successful candidate will facilitate a structured, practical-led curriculum designed to foster deep scientific enquiry, analytical reasoning, and confident experimental skills, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE Combined and Separate Science public examinations.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONSPractical-Led STEM Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality science lessons across all attainment pathways, embedding consistent practical investigations to demystify complex chemical reactions, biological systems, and physics formulae.
Closing Attainment Gaps: Identify and target deep-seated learning barriers, deploying structured scaffolding, visual models, and targeted literacy interventions to accelerate the progress of disadvantaged pupils and those with English as an Additional Language (EAL).
Rigorous Laboratory Leadership: Manage busy school laboratory spaces with flawless adherence to CLEAPSS health and safety standards, teaching safe experimental techniques and proper handling of scientific apparatus.
GCSE Performance Tracking: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal Foundation and Higher tier GCSE Science papers, meticulously analysing mock scripts to eliminate misconceptions and maximize high-grade boundary retention.
Community Pastoral Care: Fulfill full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering pastoral curriculum units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families.
Local Authority Framework: Operating under the direct oversight of Coventry City Council, this traditional community school remains deeply rooted in local accountability, following standard national pay scales and prioritizing comprehensive, inclusive education for the surrounding neighbourhood.
