Molecular Biology Assistant - Molecular Diagnostics Development Location: London, UK
Job Type: 12 month contract, 37.5 hours a week.

Working within a collaborative R&D environment, you will play a key role in developing and improving molecular assays, diagnostic workflows, and supporting technologies that have the potential to transform healthcare outcomes. Proclinical is seeking a Molecular Biology Assistant to support laboratory-based research, product development activities, and routine production processes across multiple scientific teams focused on molecular diagnostics innovation. Responsibilities Support the development and optimisation of molecular biology assays and diagnostic workflows for advanced molecular diagnostics platforms.
Assist with the design, execution, and analysis of laboratory experiments to support product development programmes.
Perform routine laboratory and production activities across molecular biology, assay development, sequencing, and related scientific disciplines.
Generate accurate, high-quality experimental data while adhering to established protocols and timelines.
Maintain detailed experimental records using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs).
Analyse experimental results and communicate findings to project teams.
Troubleshoot laboratory experiments and contribute to the resolution of technical challenges.
Ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with ISO 13485 quality management standards and internal procedures.
Contribute ideas to improve laboratory processes, assay performance, and diagnostic platform development.
Support additional R&D activities as required.Key Skills and Requirements BSc degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, or a related life sciences discipline.
At least 1+ years working, laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, nucleic acid extraction, DNA/RNA analysis, or related methodologies gained through industry, internships, placements, or research projects.
Ability to perform laboratory experiments accurately, analyse data, and troubleshoot technical issues.
Experience maintaining laboratory records using electronic lab notebook systems.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing reliable, high-quality scientific data.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Positive and flexible attitude towards both research-driven and routine laboratory work.
Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), sequencing workflows, or molecular diagnostics technologies would be advantageous but is not essential.
