A state boarding school in Shrewsbury is seeking to appoint a Biology Teacher to join its Science department from September. This is a full-time role within a school that combines strong academic expectations with a supportive residential and pastoral environment.
Biology is a well-established subject within the school, with strong uptake at GCSE and A-Level. Students are encouraged to develop scientific curiosity, analytical thinking, and practical laboratory skills.
About the RoleYou will teach Biology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering lessons that cover topics such as cell biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and human physiology.
The role includes both theoretical teaching and practical laboratory work, helping students develop investigative skills and scientific understanding.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Biology examinations, supporting them in developing analytical writing, data interpretation, and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within the Science department to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeach Biology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver lessons covering key biological topics
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Biology examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory environments
Contribute to departmental planning and enrichment activities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong subject knowledge in Biology
Experience teaching Biology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 effectively
Strong classroom management skills
Good organisational and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Biology
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to science enrichment or extracurricular activities
