Description

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the provision of critical IT systems to support research and operational science functions within a world-leading Institution.

 About the role:

You will lead the Pipeline Solutions unit for ICT within the Wellcome Sanger Institute. This new unit is focussed on providing all the relevant IT software, workflow and data solutions for high-volume science and scientific operations. This includes developing, deploying and supporting solutions to accelerate our science, as well as longer-term advanced algorithm development and supporting research software used globally.

You will work with senior managers and stakeholders across the institution to develop and define the IT and Informatics strategy to support our high-volume scientific work. This includes ensuring that we fully support our rapidly-evolving science, as well as meeting any operational and regulatory needs. The role holder will oversee projects for new IT pipelines and data and also will lead new initiatives as required, eg to introduce new ways of working (eg Agile methods) into the organisation.

This is a key area of differentiation for the Sanger and the role is critical to the Sanger’s success.
