Description

The British Pharmacological Society is inviting applications for an enthusiastic Engagement Officer to join our team and support delivery of our objectives. The successful candidate will have a drive to communicate about health and medicines development, and support engagement for our discipline. We are looking for a confident self-starter and team player, with some experience of end-to-end project management.

Working in the Education, Engagement and Policy team the role requires an experienced individual to deliver a series of activities which include coordinating our Ambassador programme, ensuring active support of relevant committees and supporting our online communities. The post-holder will facilitate engagement activities at relevant scientific or careers events/conferences to:

  • increase awareness of and explore the role pharmacology plays in society.

  • disseminate information about pharmacology careers and support those interested in the subject.

  • support our members in communicating their expertise, and to build and develop public and patient perceptions of pharmacology.

  • enthuse the next generation of pharmacologists and grow our membership.

  • improve awareness of the Society and the role we play supporting pharmacologists.

 
This exciting role offers the opportunity to develop and oversee a series of diverse projects to engage different audiences with pharmacology. The successful candidate will coordinate and oversee the delivery of projects using our ambassadors, members, volunteers and staff to achieve joint goals as part of a team.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in an office environment and be a people person. The role will involve working with our members through committees and by developing new networks aligned to engagement activities. Therefore, organisation skills and experience of stakeholder management will be key attributes for delivering in this role.
 
Your interest in pharmacology, the use of, and discovery of medicines should drive your passion to deliver good science communication. We are looking for someone with examples of outstanding organisational and communication skills. The ability to work with and through others will underpin your success and ensure that the Society effectively engages with a range of audiences.

Salary: Grade F, £31,890-£33,832 depending on experience
