DESIGN THE FUTURE WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS 

We are looking for a Bid Writer to join COWI based in any one of our UK offices (Glasgow, York, Derby, Bristol, London or Uttoxeter. In this role you'll develop project case studies, alongside project managers to give more details on selected projects. You'll also co-ordinate the design and development of company statements and expression of interests with our Graphic Designers, Market Directors and Business Development Managers.

On a day-to-day basis, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing Capture Plans, Value Propositions and Win Themes tailored to customers unique requirements
  • Assisting the Bid Managers and Bid Support Co-ordinators in developing a proposal structure
  • Work alongside management and the bid team to develop bid strategies, competitive advantages and win themes
  • Conducting answer planning/storyboarding
  • Liaising with the client to get an understanding of their requirements, strategies, and principles
  • Identifying the requirements of the bid and be able to demonstrate the agreed value proposition clearly and concisely in your written narrative
  • Ensuring the writing style is appropriate to the bid and that deadlines are met
  • Writing compelling, concise, bespoke responses while implementing the bid evaluation criteria against your written narrative
  • Proof reading, editing, challenging and sense checking the bid narrative
  • Accountability for the overall quality of bid submissions
  • Supporting the submission graphics and final documents
  • Coaching operational teams and subject matter experts in writing best practice
  • Support with bid and systems administration including, maintaining and developing libraries and databases of company information for future reference
  • Provide a proof-reading and quality control function for CV updates

Furthermore, you'll have;

  • An English degree, or related qualification/experience (i.e. APMP) desirable.
  • Bid Writing experience desirable, ideally in an Engineering design/construction background
  • Proven skills in producing and editing proposal content within a complex business environment
  • Experienced in leading planning sessions, participating in key review meetings/final document review, content sign off and document production
  • Experience of coordinating and updating a knowledge base system
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate professionally with colleagues
  • The ability to use a range of tools, methods and search engines, to analyse and assimilate data, such as competitor analysis or customer research
  • Previous experience of collating proposal documents using library/information stores, search engines/corporate directories
  • Ability to work collaboratively with work winning, operational teams and supply chain
  • A Focus on attention to detail and be passionate about quality
  • Strong communication skills, written and spoken
  • Experience and confidence in using Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc. and an understanding of basic office IT services/operations
  • Embody and demonstrate the COWI values in all relationships and tasks
