Description
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a WTP (Water Treatment Plant) Laboratory QA Manager to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The WTP Laboratory QA Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the quality assurance (QA) program for the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) laboratory while ensuring its independence from the laboratory management. This key role ensures that all laboratory processes, analysis, and data meet the highest quality and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Acting independently from laboratory management and maintaining direct access to the highest level of management.
- Implementing and overseeing the laboratory quality assurance program in compliance with established standards and the CNIC M-5090.1A requirements.
- Ensuring laboratory personnel demonstrate proficiency in performing their assigned roles and duties.
- Verifying that all data generated by the laboratory meets required quality assurance criteria and complies with regulatory standards.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of laboratory analysis procedures and a foundational understanding of the methods and practices employed by the laboratory.
- Ensuring independence in all quality assurance activities, with no involvement in the compliance testing related to drinking water.
- Prohibiting the analysis of compliance samples for drinking water as part of QA responsibilities.
- Evaluating the proper implementation of laboratory practices and identifying any deficiencies in quality processes.
- Preparing reports, conducting internal QA audits, and maintaining proper documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assuring that a qualified QA Manager or an equally qualified alternate is on-site at all times to monitor laboratory operations.
- Providing training and support to laboratory staff on QA principles, ensuring continuous improvement of QA performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education in a related scientific field (e.g., chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a similar discipline).
- Training in quality assurance principles aligned with the size and complexity of the laboratory.
- At least one (1) year of experience in quality assurance (QA).
- A working knowledge of laboratory analysis processes and a basic understanding of the testing methods used in the laboratory.
- Ability to remain independent from compliance testing performed at the laboratory, specifically for drinking water.
- Familiarity with quality assurance principles and regulatory compliance standards as outlined in CNIC M-5090.1A.
- High school diploma or equivalent with advanced educational credentials preferred.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related technical field.
- Experience in quality assurance programs for government or military laboratory operations.
- Prior experience working in OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or austere environments with multi-national workforces.
- Familiarity with QA programs and compliance in water treatment or environmental laboratories.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to maintain independence in QA oversight.
