- Biology Technician
Description
We are looking for a well-organised and highly capable Biology Technician to join our team of experienced technicians, supporting the Science department at Sheffield High School for Girls.
As a Biology Technician, you will support the safe delivery of experiments and practical activities in science lessons, helping to optimise teaching and learning. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, setting out and clearing away equipment and materials for lessons and practical examinations
- Trialling experiments prior to lessons
- Assisting teachers and pupils during lessons and experiments, supporting the safe use of equipment
- Maintaining the departmental inventory, including stock control and purchasing of equipment, materials, chemicals, textbooks and audio-visual resources
- Ensuring high standards of health and safety, keeping work areas tidy, and maintaining equipment in good working order
The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of science and a genuine interest in the subject. Previous laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting is essential. Strong organisational, communication, and manual handling skills are also required.
This is a term time only role, working 36 hours per week Monday to Friday from 8.30amto4.30pm.
